Heavy Equipment Rental in Jeddah for Planned Construction Work
The FSAK Contracting heavy equipment rental Jeddah service supplies excavators, mobile cranes, bulldozers, graders and dump trucks to construction sites in Jeddah. Machines come with or without certified operators. Our fleet is based at our head office on An Nasr Road in Riyadh, so every Jeddah hire is planned as a proper mobilisation, with transport, permits and site handover agreed before the machine leaves the yard.
This page is written for project managers, procurement teams and main contractors who need machines for weeks or months. It explains what we rent, how the move to Jeddah works, which local site conditions affect machine choice, and what to send us for a quotation.
How does FSAK move equipment from Riyadh to Jeddah?
Machines travel close to 950 km by road from Riyadh to Jeddah, mainly along Highway 40 through Taif and Makkah. Large machines move on lowbed trailers. Loads above the national size and weight limits need an exceptional load permit, so we build permit time into the plan.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Roads sets the standard limits at 45 tonnes, 23 metres long, 3.2 metres wide and 5 metres high. Anything larger needs a special permit for non-divisible loads, as reported in September 2025. Big excavators and crane components often fall into this group.
Our mobilisation follows five steps:
1. Site and access check. We confirm gate width, turning space, overhead lines and ground bearing at the set-down point.
2. Load planning. We decide which machines go on lowbeds and whether crane counterweights travel separately.
3. Permits and escorts. Exceptional load permits and escort vehicles are arranged where the load requires them.
4. Arrival and handover. The machine is unloaded, pre-inspected, and handed over with its documents.
5. Demobilisation. At the end of the hire, the same process runs in reverse.

What machines can you rent from FSAK for a Jeddah site?
FSAK rents earthmoving, lifting and road machines for Jeddah projects. The fleet covers excavators from 1.5 to 50 tonnes, mobile cranes from 25 to 100 tonnes, bulldozers, motor graders and dump trucks. Every crane is supplied with a certified lift supervisor and rigger, and every machine is serviced before it is deployed.
Heavy equipment rental Jeddah at a glance
| Machine | Size or class | Typical use on Jeddah sites |
|---|---|---|
| Mini excavators | 1.5 to 5 tonnes | Utility trenching and service connections in built-up districts |
| Crawler excavators | Up to 50 tonnes | Bulk excavation, basements, drainage channels and foundation pits |
| Bulldozers | Crawler dozers, medium and large sizes | Site stripping, spreading fill and building working platforms |
| Motor graders | Standard road graders, 12 to 14 ft blade | Shaping subgrade for access roads, yards and car parks |
| Dump trucks | Road-legal tippers, about 20 to 30 tonne payload | Moving cut and fill, and removing spoil from site |
| Mobile cranes | 25 to 100 tonnes | Steel erection, precast units and plant installation |
| Pick-and-carry cranes | Up to 25 tonnes | Lifts on tight sites with little room for outriggers |
| Tower cranes | Long-term hire, subject to availability | Mid-rise and high-rise building frames |
| Compactors and rollers | Soil compactors and asphalt rollers | Compacting fill layers, road subgrade and asphalt |
For excavator hire in Jeddah, we match machine size to dig depth and the working space on site. Crane rental in Jeddah always starts with a lift plan and a ground check. Mobile cranes on our fleet stop at 100 tonnes. If your lift needs more capacity, we will say so at quotation stage rather than offer a machine that is too small.
You can see the full range on our equipment rental service, including rental terms on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. For long Jeddah hires we agree a maintenance plan in writing before mobilisation

Because the fleet travels from Riyadh, FSAK is not the right supplier for a crane you need tomorrow morning. We are a good fit when the hire runs for weeks or months, or when several machines move together. Clients already using our Riyadh equipment fleet can extend the same contract terms to a Jeddah site.
Which Jeddah site conditions change the machine you need?
Four local factors shape machine choice in Jeddah: soft saline ground near the coast, tight streets in older districts, summer heat rules, and heavy traffic around the port and industrial areas. Each one affects track type, machine size, delivery timing or working hours.
Coastal sabkha and high groundwater
Parts of Jeddah sit on sabkha, a salty coastal soil. A study in the Arabian Journal of Geosciences found that sabkha in Obhur, north Jeddah, contains clay minerals that can swell. Sabkha areas also tend to have shallow groundwater.
On site, this means wider track shoes, crane mats under outriggers, and dewatering pumps for deep digs. We ask for the geotechnical report before any crane lift. If the ground needs work first, our team can carry out site preparation and enabling works before the lifting machines arrive.
Tight access in Al-Balad and older districts
Historic Al-Balad and older neighbourhoods have narrow streets and sensitive buildings. Mini excavators and pick-and-carry cranes suit these sites better than large machines. Road occupation approvals for deliveries are usually arranged by the main contractor, and we plan our delivery times around them.
Summer working hours
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development bans outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:00 to 3:00 pm between 15 June and 15 September. We plan operator shifts around this window, often with early starts. Night work needs lighting towers, which we can include in the quotation.
Port and industrial corridors
Jeddah Islamic Port is the largest Saudi port on the Red Sea, run by the Saudi Ports Authority. Truck traffic around the port and the industrial areas in south Jeddah is heavy. We schedule lowbed arrivals for quieter hours and confirm gate passes in advance.
Where is construction demand coming from in Jeddah?
Jeddah’s machine demand is driven by large waterfront, tower and logistics projects. These projects create long hires for excavators, cranes and haulage, and steady work for the contractors who supply them.
• Jeddah Central Project. Backed by the Public Investment Fund, it covers 5.7 million square metres. Phase one is due by the end of 2027 and includes the opera house, stadium and oceanarium.
• Jeddah Tower. Construction restarted in January 2025, with completion targeted for 2028.
• Port and logistics growth. Saudi ports handle about 70% of the Kingdom’s imports, and Jeddah remains a key entry point.
These projects are listed for market context only. FSAK does not claim a role in them.
FSAK has worked in Saudi construction for more than 20 years as a Riyadh-based construction contractor. The Jeddah market now asks for the same thing our Riyadh clients ask for: reliable machines, qualified operators and clear paperwork.
When is a local Jeddah rental yard the better option?
Jeddah has well-established rental companies with yards inside the city. If you need one forklift, one scissor lift or a small crane for a day or two, a local yard will usually be quicker and cheaper once transport is counted.
FSAK is the stronger choice when:
• the hire runs for several weeks or longer;
• you need an earthmoving package, such as excavators, dozers, graders and trucks together;
• you want the same company to do the earthworks or road work, not only supply the machines;
• you already work with FSAK in Riyadh and want one contract across both cities.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does FSAK have an equipment yard in Jeddah?
No. FSAK is based in Riyadh and mobilises machines to Jeddah by road. This is why we focus on planned hires of several weeks or more, where the transport cost is spread across the hire.
What is the minimum hire period for a Jeddah site?
In practice, Jeddah hires make the most sense over weeks rather than days because of the distance from our fleet.
Can you work during the summer midday ban?
Outdoor work under direct sunlight is not allowed from 12:00 to 3:00 pm between 15 June and 15 September. We plan shifts around this, usually with early starts and, where needed, night work with lighting towers.
Can FSAK handle lifts above 100 tonnes?
Our mobile cranes go up to 100 tonnes. If your lift needs more, we will tell you at quotation stage so you can plan the right crane from the start.
